Whether this is an actual bro-mance or something a little more transactional, the increasingly warm relationship between Trump and Gianni Infantino seems like noteworthy context for FIFA's announcement today that it will begin awarding an annual peace prize.

If #Jets are inclined to trade Breece, but only for the right price, Sunday's game turned out perfectly. He looked good enough to possibly convince another team to pony up for him, & NY's win takes the monkey off its back and could relieve internal pressure to keep him while in search of that W.

Biiiiiiiig NBa news today, and very much of the kind the league does not want. It feels like there will be much more to come from this story, the first installment of which is being handled this morning by my great colleague Rick Maese.

I'll echo what so many who have worked directly with Sally have already said: she is not only brilliant but a hell of teammate. Great get for the Atlantic.
Just a reminder, though, as (again) many have already noted: there is A LOT of talent left in the WaPo Sports dept.
I said farewell to the @washingtonpost.com today, after 30 years. My note to my friends and colleagues, threaded:

The Post Sports section bids more farewells, with Cindy (and the great Alexa Steele) following Steinberg out the door. As with Dan, Cindy takes a pioneering history in the blogging (for lack of a better term) game with her, and she'll be missed. I've loved (almost) every minute of working with her.
It’s my turn to announce my upcoming Washington Post departure. I’ve loved (almost) every minute of it and will remain on social media (say hi now and then, will ya) as I watch sports and go scorched earth on my memoir.

Dan became a great editor after blazing all sorts of trails as a writer, and he’s a really good dude to boot. Wishing him all the best in his future endeavors.
Tomorrow is my last day at The Washington Post. I'm taking a buyout. Was a thrill and I will write something else about all this at some point.

If it feels like just yesterday that the NBA was still in the midst of its 2024-25 season, that's because it almost literally was. Which raises a question ...
www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/...
Wait a minute. Why is the NBA holding its draft so soon after the Finals?
While the NFL makes a point of keeping fans’ attention over the offseason, changing the NBA calendar to parcel out events has “never really been a big topic,” a league official said.

The Knicks are hanging around, but man, it feels like all their shot attempt are tough ones (even if some are going down, thanks mostly to Brunson's brilliance), while the Pacers are consistently generating much easier looks.

The Wizards can simply never catch a break. And you'll never believe this, either, but a premier NBA prospect is heading to the Western Conference.
Ouch. The Wizards drop to the sixth pick in the draft. The worst possible outcome.

I wrote about how, even if Brunson's shot was not as iconic as the one Jordan hit to win the 1998 Finals, Jalen joined MJ and others (Allen Iverson, for one) in the pantheon of great crossover dribbles.
