Twitter decided to mass ban anyone using OldTweetDeck (the only way to get the desktop layout people liked), including my account. I'm betting a lot of journos and politicians might have been hit by it as well

I'll probably appeal it, but they're really trying hard to push out remaining power users

Went to see my first West End show last night. A Man For All Seasons, starring the amazing Martin Shaw. Snagged a great seat, and got Shaw's autograph at the stage door!

Question for election nerds out there: When was the last time a federal election result flipped after the recount? I'm sure there are some provincial examples, including straight-up ties, but I think it's been rare federally.

What would a WMD like fentanyl do to a Tesla?
Bondi claims people are using "weapons of mass destruction" against Teslas 🙃

Movie pitch: The Big Short, but about banks getting involved in financing food delivery loans.
DoorDash and Klarna have signed a deal where customers can choose to pay for food deliveries in interest-free installments or deferred options aligned with payday schedules.

It's sad, but not really surprising to see Zach Paikin become an apologist for Russia.
It's delusional to think that Russia doesn't want territory. If they actually offered to withdraw from all occupied territory in exchange for no "NATO expansion", Ukraine would accept it in a heartbeat.

This part is the scariest, and most misinformed:

"The artificial line of separation drawn many years ago will finally disappear"

The border has been around since the American Revolution, and the War of 1812 was fought over it!
Trump announces more tariffs on Canada and says, "The only thing that makes sense is for Canada to become our cherished Fifty First State."

The US extorting minerals from a country under invasion for 3 years (and, broadly, in a conflict for over a decade) is more disgusting than if they simply pulled out aid.

I'm glad that major American museums and galleries like the Smithsonian are financially independent from the federal government. Imagine what cuts and ideological policies Trump and co. would be trying to force on them.

He's literally working from his home right now!
Trump: "I don't think you can work from a home. Nobody is gonna work from home. They are gonna be going out, they're gonna play tennis, they're gonna play golf, they're gonna do a lot of things. They're not working."

I fear that hollowing out domestic law enforcement and international security will "force" Trump to give more resources and authority to the military to do those roles.

The CIA Is About to Get a Trump Makeover
The spy agency’s workforce received a buyout-style offer on Tuesday.

I'm surprised that Trump hasn't floated the idea of transporting all the Palestinians from Gaza to Madagascar.

Maybe a bit too on the nose. But give it a week.

Buried in all the other news today, Trump's "Sovereign Wealth Fund" (which won't really be one when your country has significant debt) could end up being a sketchy presidential slush fund to get around Congressional spending control and sell off state assets. finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-s...

Great that a certain former Ontario government gutted the ability to enforce restrictions on political advertising...

No idea why the Ottawa library decided to acquire this pro-Russia "multipolar" book, but the endorsement at the top makes it easy to tell it isn't worth reading.

The silly irony of our political system:
- Governments with "strong mandates" from polls are more likely to call early opportunistic elections, even if they already have a solid majority.
- Governments with poor poll results (like, say, the LPC) will run out the clock...to the normal election date.

Now that there's a Tweetdeck equivalent (@deck.blue), I'm starting the transition to here from the bird app. Always annoying to switch to a new social media group as one gets older (it's why I still use Facebook), but it's increasingly clear that X is in a death spiral.

Got an invite to this app. Waiting for a good Tweetdeck equivalent...
