Here at DaNES we enjoy exploring the diverse and fascinating world of insects and their non-marine arthropod relatives. We hold events and field visits to help record invertebrates across our area and have a database of over half a million records.
I thought at first this was Phasia hemiptera but i now think it is a male Ectophasia crassipennis (seen in Sussex)? A recent colonist to BI in 2019 that is established in the south and now spreading north. No NBN records for Derbys/Notts.

The wasp mantisfly, Climaciella brunnea, is not a wasp, a mantis, or a fly. It is instead a type of spider-eating lacewing that keeps itself safe by looking like it has a painful sting, which is does not.

Evolution continues to be marvelous. 🧪 #Entomology

Please #repost/#share for the #bees.🙏🏼🐝

This matters.

So let’s talk about #honeybees in the context of ‘Saving the Bees’.
Let’s cut the bull and cut to the chase as there’s way too much confusion/misinformation out there which is a hinderance to, and detrimental to, genuine bee saving.

Did you know there are more living organisms in one handful of healthy soil than there are people on Earth? It can take 100s of years for just 1cm of soil to form, so it's vital we look after it – avoiding pesticides is one easy action.
