Congress is planning to introduce a set of bills that will prevent the residents of DC from determining what’s best for our own community.

Tell Congress to stop interfering in DC's local governance.
CONGRESS: HANDS OFF D.C.
Right now, politicians in Congress are undercutting the voice of hundreds of thousands of people who live in DC to pursue their political agenda.

President Trump's detention and deportation machine has received $170 billion more to send masked agents into our communities and detain record numbers of immigrants.

Tell your members of Congress: Protect our neighborhoods and support a pathway to citizenship.
STOP THE MASKED DEPORTATION FORCES
The Trump administration is putting unprecedented resources into deploying masked deportation forces in our communities. Urge Congress to protect our communities and pass a pathway to citizenship.

More than 1,000 cities and towns are now participating in the 287(g) program which authorizes local police to act as immigration agents.

It's time for Congress to cut funding to this program NOW.
Cut Funding to ICE's Dangerous 287(g) Program
ICE's 287(g) program turns local police into a weapon for ICE, meaning more racial profiling, more fear in our communities, and more people in immigrant detention. Tell Congress to cut funding to it now.

We’re suing the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for restricting access to housing grants based on politically-motivated criteria.

These federal funds exist to aid people experiencing homelessness — not to punish states, localities, and service providers trying to help.

Yesterday, a court blocked DHS from brutalizing journalists, protestors, and legal observers.

A judge found federal agents used excessive force against members of the press and public during immigrants' rights protests in Southern California this summer. This is a win for the First Amendment.
Federal judge curbs DHS, LAPD actions against journalists in L.A.
The judge cited an “avalanche of evidence” that ICE and Border Patrol agents violated the rights of reporters covering protests of immigration raids.

This bill is up for a vote THIS WEEK. It would give life sentences to immigrants who have committed minor non-violent offenses:

Please promote this! A few minutes of your time could change someone's life.
No life sentences for immigration
This bill would put immigrants in prison on a massive scale, without reducing border crossings.

This kicks ass. Imagine walking around and seeing these up everywhere in shop windows. Imagine folks starting to question why some businesses have them and others don't. This is what building community wide defiance looks like. It's not everything, but it's something. And it's something you can do!
25 of the businesses said yes! It was great to talk to folks about what to do in the event of an ICE raid and give them a hotline to call if needed. It feels good to do something and talk to people.
