The poster formerly known as Some Dude (name was taken on BlueSky). I post about roleplaying games, politics, genre films, comic books, and whatever else strikes my fancy. Destroy all grognards. Antifascist, antiracist. FCK NZS. AI=GTFO.
In a world full of Dean Cains, be a David Corenswet.

Saw this early Nicholas Winding Refn flick recently. It's about a security guard whose wife is killed at the mall where he works (Like breh, you can't even protect your own wife, why would we trust you to guard Hot Dog on a Stick?). The police can't solve it, and doing so becomes his obsession.

The art in the game all tended to be mash-ups of different covers and actors. But I'd hesitate to call it a rip off, as it was licensed.

I unironically love On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Never Say Never Again, despite the latter having some very silly bits and a bad hairpiece.

The Bond Franchise also spawned one of the best tabletop RPGs of the '80s.

Space:1889. By Frank Chadwick, Game Designers' Workshop, 1988.

One of the most charming RPG settings ever.

Travel to the canals of Mars on an aether ship powered by a solar boiler, and oxygenated by a greenhouse! Exciting!

Less exciting: be a conialist! Have Victorian morals!

In 2014, Goodman Games reprinted the original and subsequently released a wealth of new adventures and setting material.

As in The Starlost, the game assumes that the players don't initially know that they are on a ship.

Metamorphosis Alpha is one of my favorite settings for an RPG. The original 1976 edition got little support outside of a few magazine articles. It went through several editions and rule sets in the

Metamorphosis Alpha takes place on the starship Warden, a huge colony craft with multiple biome-like levels.

At some point in the past, the Warden passed through a cloud of radiation, killing most of the crew and passengers. Those left were often mutated, along with the plants and animals aboard.

I like this one. I discovered it because I'm a big RPG fan, and The Starlost has been named as a possible influence on Metamorphosis Alpha, billed as the first science fiction RPG, in 1976. Very similar plot and setup. Though James Ward, author of Met Alpha, denied being aware of The Starlost.

Today in nerd engineering: went to replace the rusted staples in my old Tunnels & Trolls rulebook (UK version) My new staples weren't long enough to do the trick. So, I sewed the book together, with thread where the staples would be.

Post you from a different era:

Crappy photo, but it was handy. Sometime in the '90s. I'm the guy in the middle. More or less lost touch with the guy on the left. Dude on the right was the best man at my wedding, and is coming from out of state for a visit next week.
