we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

I have what is generally accepted as a pretty uncommon name, so imagine my surprise when I googled myself quickly (to see what prospective employers get when they search my full name) and found an obituary for a guy with the same exact name as mine... except he spells his last name the "correct" way

I rewarded myself for doing a task today by spending the last of my Dunkin Rewards points on a sandwich on the walk home.
Are you supposed to like, ask if you want your sandwich toasted? I always thought it was the default, but tasting an untoasted sandwich today made me realize maybe i'm spoiled?
