From the recent Jetbrains survey:

"The survey’s gender distribution shows a striking lack of diversity, with the overwhelming majority of respondents identifying as male."

If you have the means to support Larabelles, I strongly urge you to do so: larabelles.com/support-us
Larabelles
Larabelles is a community for PHP and Laravel developers under-represented due to their gender.

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier but I'm using the Dictation feature on macOS in Keynote to provide a transcript for each slide of my talk. It works really well!

I forget the original source but this is so good. I need a little pocket version that goes in my wallet like a credit card.

What's this, 2 (nearly 3) years later 🫠, and I've got a new blog post!? It’s about a tool I made to automate my life – GCM-Gen, which generates commit messages using AI. Still early days, but it’s coming together nicely. Check it out! 😀https://deloughry.co.uk/posts/gcm-gen-blog-post #gcmgen

By popular request, here's how to add Bluesky replies as your blog's comment section!

This requires some technical know-how for now, but I'm hoping that we see some no-code solutions for this pop up soon, like Ghost or Wordpress plugins.

I needed a bit more precision when searching for Bluesky users, so I built this user search app - and ended up fleshing it out more than planned! 😅 Would delighted to hear if you find it useful.

Think I had my first anxiety wave of becoming a new parent last night! The feeling like I'm not going to be good enough hit HARD!!!

But if being a programmer has taught me, Imposter syndrome is a killer but it is not me and I can adapt! Learn and be the best farther I can be!

I made a thing!

I was playing around with the AT protocol and as a little experiment I made a website that visualises activity around Bluesky: nightsky.hctr.dev

It listens to all new posts and shows them as little stars across a night sky 🌃

Every star is someone, somewhere, posting something
Nightsky | hctr.dev
See live conversations from all over Bluesky as a dynamic night sky

Unpopular opinion but I ❤️ using AI builders like bolt.new; they have a place in a dev's toolkit. I use them to spark ideas & test concepts, and give me further excitement about an idea. I don’t claim it’s my work and always try to understand it and improve as often the code is bad but so is mine 😅

I've started using light mode during the day for everything (dev, browsing, terminal, etc)and switching to dark mode at night!

I used to have a deep-seated hatred towards light mode, but now it actually feels easier on my eyes. Less fatigue, less strain… maybe it’s a sign of #gettingOld

So what do you do when they are stuck in a rut creatively?

My hobby is coding, as is my day job, I love coding but I've found that more and more I just procrastinate when I have free time, I know procrastinating can be good from time to time but not all the time? Not when I have the urge to code!
