It’s funny that the basic iPad not supporting Apple Intelligence is kinda a selling point…

I think about this CGP Grey video every day.

Especially whenever someone explains "why" they did something.

Closing out my year with a journal editor shocker 🧵

Checking new manuscripts today I reviewed a paper attributing 2 papers to me I did not write. A daft thing for an author to do of course. But intrigued I web searched up one of the titles and that's when it got real weird...

Check it out:

Should now work fully with Herd!

Here's with/without laravel-dumper :)

Planning to record an Over Engineered with @bogdankharchenko.com and @skylerkatz.com some time soon where we talk thru the recent DDoS that we had to mitigate. Interested? Anything you'd want to hear about specifically?

After 3 years of development I finally published the first alpha version of FilePond v5!

is now a full blown custom element, it implements ElementInternals, can be styled with CSS Custom Properties, and can be fully customised with templates and extensions! 🎉

I'm super excited for Blaze and @johnmkoster.bsky.social's Forte.

As much as they've been talked about, I still feel like they're underrated.

Swift has a cool `defer` statement that lets you effectively queue code to run right before leaving the current scope. It's kinda like try/finally but way cleaner.

Would be cool if we had something like this in PHP. What if you could just do a `finally` block without the try to have this behavior?

The joys of having a car that has software bugs. I looked out the window this morning to discover that 3 of 4 doors in our Tesla were open. Camera footage shows the doors just randomly open at 9:45pm last night. So much fun.

Cory Doctorow's latest talk about his upcoming book is 🔥🔥🔥! pluralistic.net/2025/12/05/p...

I was especially taken by how he lays out that the “A.I.” hype wave is utter bullshit and bad for humanity as basic common sense.

This is a long read, but a *very* good one.
I thoroughly recommend reading all of Cory Doctorow's recent speech on AI skepticism, it's crammed with new arguments and interesting new ways of thinking about these problems pluralistic.net/2025/12/05/p...

Kind of an interesting look at the traffic we've seen over the last few days. I expect more spikes soon, but this is what it looks like right now.

Boy it's wild how quickly a DDoS can force you to do all those things you knew you really aught to do but, "ah, it's fine for now." 😅

We've been holding off on moving to Cloudflare for various legacy reasons, but 4 billion requests suddenly made those legacy reasons less concerning 😂
