It's interesting how we derive to different outcomes based on the methodology we chose to perceive this problem by. One of these interesting aspects of meteorology that we can still debate on. It's why I love this field.

30-days alone is not long enough to filter out the MJO my man. You're seeing the active MJO passage across the Eastern Pacific in this 30-day snap shot. Not saying coupling is zero over the East Pacific with El Nino, but it's not as strong as it might appear in this 30day composite.

That 2018 event was initiated over the North Atlantic. This one looks like it's starting from Siberia. Either way, going to be a tough route for the models to handle.

This upcoming event is projecting both onto the Kelvin and MJO bands, though we all know the MJO is really a strong CCKW. The one thing that gets my attention for this December wave is it will be taking place as the equatorial stratosphere cools from minor SSWE at the pole. Could beef up the MJO amp
