Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

National Guard troops don't sign up to be used as political pawns. They sign up to serve their country, not needlessly deploy to American cities to pick up garbage. These two soldiers should be alive right now and at home with their families for Thanksgiving. I'm furious.

The game was always going to be the midterms, and then 2028 after that. This shutdown fight bolstered the Dems’ chances for both and a lot of people suffered for it. Respect their sacrifice and tend to the flock. If Trump “won” it’s a Pyrrhic victory at best. The fight goes on

Dems tried getting a clean ACA subsidy extension. Repubs rejected it. Holding out for ACA subsidy extensions is like punching yourself in the face.
