If you’re citing 101-level texts to refute 500-level conversations, you might be missing the forest for the trees. I encourage people to meet these topics with the complexity they deserve.

Sex in History is not a foundational text for decolonial relational work. It barely scratches the surface and reflects a white anthropological lens. Citing it today only shows how under-researched many online critiques are.

That’s a book I read as a teenager—over 20 years ago. Since then, I’ve engaged deeply with hundreds of books and taken university-level coursework in gender studies, history, anthropology, and critical theory.
