I rarely give five stars to anything, but "All The Little Bird-Hearts" by Viktoria Lloyd-Barlow is one.

This book shattered me, making me feel all the feels and then some. At the heart of it is the relationship between a neurodivergent mother and her teen-aged daughter. Could trigger some folks.

i really do think it is terrifying that technofascism’s ultimate goal is eliminating human-ness from
the world. we may be fucked up and we may fuck up in any number of ways but people being people in all our incredible variance and depth is what makes the fabric of life so rich

I currently have 258 followers. Why?

I assume we all have an aversion to the color orange and are supportive of human rights for all people.

Why else did you follow me? Rude answers will get you blocked.

I wish I could attribute to author

PSA: if you don’t want your child to be gay, trans, etc. then just don’t have kids. This isn’t fucking build a bear. You don’t get to pick and choose these things about your child. You aren’t ready to be a parent if you aren’t ready to love them unconditionally.

This is/was a landmark study during my career as a medical librarian. This Administration is burning the libraries of both American and international knowledge. I’m crying. So should you.
"Women" were on the forbidden word list. The Women's Health Initiative helped us understand Hormone Replacement Therapy. We had this study because NIH had frequently *left women out* of their studies.
Well the NIH has cancelled the Women's Health Initiative, the largest study of women in history

It has been running continuously since 1991 and has provided massive key knowledge about diseases in women

Unreal

As a professor of English, allow me to try, humbly and with the proper respect, to offer an appropriate response to the President’s address:

Fuck you, you fucked-up fuck, and fuck all the fuckers who willingly fuck with you, especially. You can all fuck all the way off, and then fuck off some more.

By accident, I saw a LinkedIn discussion about tomorrow’s planned monetary boycott. The discussion was quickly overrun with right wing folks exulting in how they would spend more to counter the effect of the boycott. Ugh!

I have been reading the Washington Post my entire life, but today I cancelled our subscription. Its politics have been steadily moving to the right, and staffers whose opinions clash with the owners are being quashed. Freedom of speech is important to me, as is freedom of the press. Bye, WAPO.

I have to admit that the arrows coming from the White House at ever-increasing speeds are freaking me out. Let's just destroy the framework of this country in almost every way, says the political party currently in power. Let's make everyone feel nervous and scared. I sure do.

I am learning Italian (thanks Duolingo) for a bucket list trip to Italy eventually. I like Duolingo but the same format lesson after lesson is boring. I have access to the MhZ channel and PBS, both of which have shows in other languages. I already had some Spanish and French, making it easier.

United Healthcare is on my insurance card. I just successfully kept them from enrolling us in Part D Medicare and a plan called SilverScripts without our permission. It took me at least 4 phone calls to tell them to leave my coverage alone. The US healthcare system is hosed.
UnitedHealth uses faulty AI to deny elderly patients medically necessary coverage, lawsuit claims
Families of former beneficiaries claim UnitedHealth's AI system "aggressively" rejected claims for medically necessary expenses.

I'm old enough to have learned cursive in school and I have a lovely collection of fountain pens. I'm about to gift one to a young friend of mine. This is a very interesting article.
Signature moves: are we losing the ability to write by hand?
We are far more likely to use our hands to type or swipe than pick up a pen. But in the process we are in danger of losing cognitive skills, sensory experience – and a connection to history

Facebook keeps sending me tantalizing messages about what I'm missing over there. To be honest, I do miss it but I'm determined to see the week of abstinence out.

Zuckerberg's 'masculine energy' got its first big win with Trump declaring there are only two genders. This is an agenda that will see laws passed to push gays back into the closet and women back into the kitchen. Our trans siblings are in the front line of this fight, so now more than ever

So what are you doing during the Meta ban? I'm spending more time learning Italian. Why? Always wanted to go to Italy and I like the idea of communicating with people in their own language.

OK, let me kick it off? What's your favorite way to discover new music? And do you prefer one or two tried and tested genres, or are you all over the place?

I like to sample music. This is often from music newsletters I get. I click on names and see what happens.

Listen to most genres.
