The Redwing steals the show in today’s #AutumnArrivalSpotlight! 🍂

Their rusty red flanks and soft ‘seep seep’ calls are a sure sign of autumn as flocks sweep in overnight from icy Scandinavia, Iceland and Russia.

Spot them enjoying berries in our fields and hedgerows.

Blue Tits raise large broods in tree holes or nest boxes.

Both parents feed the chicks hundreds of times a day, timing their efforts to peak caterpillar season.

Fledglings emerge in a burst of fluff and noise.

A Great-spotted Woodpecker drumming in the old Oak opposite our house. I see and hear them often on my walks, but this is the closest I've seen one to our house. He woke me up this morning! I do hope he attracts a mate... and that they choose to nest in the Oak.

Great news for beavers! 🦫

We are delighted to have received the first-ever licence for a wild beaver release in England.

We've introduced beavers at three places in our care through licensed, enclosed releases and have seen the amazing benefits these incredible animals provide.

Knepp's rewilded Walled Garden features tonight on episode 4 of Monty Don's British Gardens series on BBC 2.

Monty grapples with the ideas of rewilding that we’re applying to our Walled Garden experiment, and is blown away by garden's beauty and complex habitats.

It's not LIVE BEAVER, but we do have some lovely clips of beavers (and baby beavers!) at the Lowther estate.

Since their arrival at Lowther in 2020 (in a licensed, enclosed scientific release)...

Beavers are nature's ecosystem engineers, but their return to the wild in England is still facing delays. It's time to remove barriers and welcome the incredible benefits they bring 🌍💧🐾
