It is early Fall in the forest. Around are tall trees in dappled light, possibly oak, some with their lobed leaves still the dark green from hot summer months, and others that have begun to turn to a red, rust, and brown. The underbrush is still green in their shade. A young woman is in the foreground and highlighted with a thin, bright green outline; this is a three-quarters portrait with her head turned to view us directly over her left shoulder. She has longer brown hair, elven ears, a strong jawline, square chin, slightly parted lips, upturned nose, hooded dark eyes, a scar running vertically from the left brow to across her high cheekbone, and thin eyebrows lifted to betray a wariness. Her expression says to us, "Can I trust you?" Her shirt is a simple one with a hood pushed back, green as the forest around her, and on her back is a dark greenish-brown quiver holding arrows tipped with red fletching, the color of the autumn leaves. A painting of the night sky is lit by green and blue auroras. Stars are behind them, mountains in front. In the foreground is an elven woman sitting cross legged on the end of a pier over a lake reflecting the lights dancing in the sky. Nature is taking over the space with bushes and grass growing out of the street and destroyed buildings that rise up around them creating a canyon. A small stream of water is in the foreground. Light from the late afternoon sun stream downs on to them. They are looking up and to the right. One is injured and walks with a staff for support, a bloody bandage wrapped around her leg. The other is at the ready with a bow, arrows strapped to her back and a supporting arm on her limping friend. The grumpy, old man came into her bookstore everyday. He'd walk the aisles, looking at all the titles, grumbling complaints under his breath that only he could hear, never buying anything until today. “Taxidermy”, “Advanced Mortuary Science”, “History of Serial Killers” filled the counter. He shyly smiled and said, “Don't worry, I'm a writer”.
