It is early Fall in the forest. Around are tall trees in dappled light, possibly oak, some with their lobed leaves still the dark green from hot summer months, and others that have begun to turn to a red, rust, and brown. The underbrush is still green in their shade. A young woman is in the foreground and highlighted with a thin, bright green outline; this is a three-quarters portrait with her head turned to view us directly over her left shoulder. She has longer brown hair, elven ears, a strong jawline, square chin, slightly parted lips, upturned nose, hooded dark eyes, a scar running vertically from the left brow to across her high cheekbone, and thin eyebrows lifted to betray a wariness. Her expression says to us, "Can I trust you?" She'd been chased, attacked, fallen off a cliff, nearly drowned and stung by unknown numbers of insects. Finally after a full day of trudging her way thru this god awful swamp, she saw her destination in sight. The tower looked golden in the setting sun. Tightening her grip on her sword, she prepared to let Egar know just how bad his directions were.

Today I'm starting to work on the 4th volume of my webcomic, but this time with a twist!

Instead of micro stories, we'll have 1 fleshed out story for the full year. This is the winning comic that I felt the need to expand on.

We need more found family in space stories.

He screwed up. The last shipping gig went south when they found out they were transporting kids to be sold. The fact that he overlooked all the red flags is what currently had his crew turning their backs on him. Did they really think he supported such things. Only one way to get their trust back. Taking a deep breath, he called them over and finally opened up about his long buried past, as a slave child.

You go in for a hug and never come back out, forever absorbed into their body. Death by cuteness.

The youth looked up at the meditating monk with disgust. There was so much pain in their community, yet the monk just sat there, cocooned in his own world of inner peace. I understood the child's anger but also in the monk's desire to find solace in a world full of suffering. It was a conundrum that seemed to exist in most civilizations. I've yet to find an answer.
