Digital organizing volunteer. Forever rooting out that which no longer serves myself/my vision of the world I want to live in. Detroit metro area. Opinions and views are my own & do not represent those of Emergent Justice.
Alice Walker's "In Search of Our Mothers' Gardens." Coming from an evangelical background, it was my introduction to feminist thought. I know now, it was, as she said, womanist thought. But then I didn't really understand the difference and it shaped my thinking. Grateful for that.

"Well that escalated quickly" 🤣🤣🤣. I can totally hear you saying that. If I'd been drinking anything, I would have choked.

Teen Vogue has had some of the most honest and best political reporting during both of Trump's terms. In a fascist state, this is how that kind of work is rewarded.

What I need you to know is that you need to get organized.
What I need you to know is they are coming.
What I need you to know is you can stop them...
This is how it works: We protect each other, period. These are our neighbors, our friends, our family"

What struck me was the number of times Coates had to make the point that, for the Black community, this isn't the worst they've experienced. And it isn't the first time that a period of moving rights forward for nonwht/nonCIS/non-male ppl has been met with a backlash. That is important.

Thanks to the media AND a public education system that conservatives have been undercutting since The Brown Decision.

1st, I want to acknowledge your sharing of this and thank you for it.

2nd, and this question (as was my 1st) is to @rephaleystevens.bsky.social : how can you call a vote to honor a man who used words as a weapon of political hate a vote against political violence?

In the meantime, will you explain why you voted yes on today's Day of Remembrance vote?
