For rheumatoid arthritis, CanPath has 8,270 participants with data only, 4,197 with data and biosamples, and 2,491 with data, biosamples and genotyping data. For other types of arthritis, CanPath has 3,130 participants with data only, 1,206 with data and biosamples, and 1,000 with data, biosamples and genotyping data. For undetermined cases, CanPath has 11,987 participants with data only, 4,909 with data and biosamples, and 2,185 with data, biosamples and genotyping data.

Healthy eating is essential for well-being, but not everyone has equal access to nutritious food 🍎🥦 CanPath research shows how neighbourhood environments, socio-economic factors + chronic conditions impact nutrition + long-term health.

NUTRITION MONTH. Promoting healthy eating habits in Canada. Diet and the neighbourhood environment. While poor diet is a major risk factor for chronic diseases, including cancer, the ability to eat healthily depends on systemic factors. Geospatial factors analyzed included: walkability, greenness, marginalization, material and social deprivation. Data from 28,000 adults aged 35–69 years within the BC Generations Project. Individuals in environments with higher material and social deprivation faced systemic barriers to meeting fruit and vegetable consumption recommendations, compared to those in more affluent and socially connected neighbourhoods. People who are socio-economically disadvantaged by our systems are more likely to experience poor food environments over time. The study combined food environment data (2009, 2011, 2018) with participants' demographics and socio-economics data. Unemployed, low-income, less educated, younger, or larger households (>5) were more likely to experience worsening food access over time. 38,627 participants followed in the CARTaGENE cohort, consisting of adults aged 40 to 69 from six urban areas in Québec.
