With data from over 330,000 participants & funding from PHAC, CanPath’s team of researchers are supporting the development of new breast cancer screening guidelines that will be informed by racial and ethnic data to ensure applicability to our diverse Cdn population.

Today is World Mental Health Day. How can we build on existing mental health data? Graph displays data from participant cases for depression and anxiety. For participants with depression, graph displays: 20631 participants have data only, 8021 have data and biosamples only, 5272 have data, biosamples and genotyping data. For participants with anxiety, graph displays: 17471 have data only, 6183 have data and biosamples only and, 4045 have data, biosamples and genotyping data.

Sleep quality matters. A CanPath study from @atlanticpath.bsky.social found that women with frequent sleep trouble faced higher breast cancer risk, even when total sleep time was “normal.” Movement helped, but rest was key. 💤 >> www.mdpi.com/1660-4601/22...
Health & Fitness Research. Is movement enough — or does rest matter too? A study of over 10,000 women in Atlantic PATH explored how sleep quality and physical activity relate to breast cancer risk. Researchers found that: Women who frequently had trouble sleeping were more likely to develop breast cancer, even when their total sleep time was “normal.” Those who were highly physically active had a lower risk. Sleep duration alone wasn’t strongly linked to risk, suggesting that quality matters more than quantity. Together, these findings highlight the importance of both movement and rest in cancer prevention. Feng et al. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. 2025
