My girl is five years down the road and new effects popping up. The struggle is real.
I can partially get why muggles don't understand that carcinomies have to deal with late effects from treatment and fear of recurrence. I just cannot understand how there are still medical professionals who just don't understand this.

Walked out of my girl’s last appointment after a year of treatment including chemo, three surgeries, egg harvesting and radiation and got this. Anyone else with a cancer tattoo? #cansky #CancerBS

So much of what I did during cancer treatment was trying to make the muggles in my life more comfortable.

Let the cancer muggles be uncomfortable.

Dear Cancer Muggles,

Getting cancer is the only way to know what you would do if you got cancer.

Benignly,

Health insurance is wild. You pay every month for months, years, decades, in case something catastrophic happens.

Then it does and the insurers are like yeah no not THAT kind of catastrophe.

Five years ago today a surgeon sat across the desk and opened a file. I remember sitting there looking at him hoping that all she had endured had paid off and the beast in her breast and lymph nodes was dead. When he said it was…I still can’t even. Happy US Thanksgiving. #cansky #Cancerbs

Life in survivorship lessons…When you’re sitting around the dinner table telling what you think is a funny story about your experience and you realize from the looks on everyone’s faces that is was actually pretty traumatic. #cansky #CancerBS

When you “tell your cancer story,” you cohere the incoherent mess of what happened to you.

And we change the journey by thinking outside the sad…outside the despair…and we learn that laughing is possible even when it seems it can’t be. You are a champion of the art!!
We cannot change always the destination, but we can change the journey.

Did you ex boyfriend become an ex because your boob was trying to kill you?
Cancer was my worst relationship, but my ex boyfriend was pretty close.

I watched my girl go through all of this following treatment in 2019. I bet your hair will never be “just” your hair ever again. It certainly isn’t for her.
Time is so weird. I remember crying when my hair fell out from chemo in September 2022, knowing it wouldn't be long again for three years. 2025 seemed so far away. Now here I am, almost two years out from finishing chemo with shoulder-length hair. We're getting there! #CancerSky

Dear cancer muggles,

Why must you tell me about everyone you’ve ever known who has died of cancer? How could that possibly make me feel better?
