Barrister Naomi Cunningham spoke to #Scotcast on @BBCScotland about her recent work in employment tribunals. The first ten minutes alone make it abundantly clear why she is succeeding in so many women’s rights cases.

The majority of women do not want males with trans identities in their toilets, changing rooms, associations or sports.
Because sometimes sex matters.
As a @teamlabouruk.bsky.social member please could the government just get on with publishing the EHRC guidance.
Women have rights too.

Here’s the problem. Women are more than their body parts but in physical sports, the body parts are pretty damn important.
…it clear that women are more than their body parts. And you are here going “nope, it’s just the body parts nothing else“.

The reality is that trans women get a ton of hate because of who they are and how they present themselves. But only the ones that don’t pass. Which is policing femininity and…

Tom's massive factor 10-20x error means his offender rate is 10-20x lower than reality. If you're genuinely interested check out the Wings Over Scotland analysis. The analysis still holds based on 2021 census pop estimate (though prisoner need updating).

For others trying to claim that "trans women" are far lower threat to women than males as a whole - the facts are impossible to dispute. They pose at least the same risk as males as a category.

The available evidence points to male-pattern offender risks being preserved.
Back-of-envelope estimate of offender rate:

- 48,000 trans women (2021 census)
- 245 'legally' male transgender prisoners in 2024 (we must assume mostly bio male)
- ~51 TW prisoners per 10,000 pop
- equivalent for males as a whole is ~25 / 10k pop (84k prisoners vs 32.8m adult pop)

Tom is wrong.

This is the oppression ladder in action. A black lesbian counts for less than a white man who claims to be a woman.

BTW: this man has served time for drug dealing and has domestic abuse on his record.

How can anyone think this is OK?

The image of frivolous women who've been "radicalised" (because they're too spoilt, passive and stupid to have their own politics) reminds me of how men spoke of feminists when I was growing up. Also of anti-suffragette propaganda. Laughable to be so sexist then call for a focus on "real issues"

Good to be reminded why I wrote Hags. Older women already shoulder a disproportionate burden of work (paid and unpaid). "Nothing better to do" means, I guess, "shouldn't be doing politics, and certainly shouldn't be celebrating any political gains"

I wish MPs would read the judgement and get legal advice before making these virtue signalling proclamations.

The ruling covered toilets and no one is policing them. We expect trans people to follow the law like everyone else.

Its not that hard.
