Today I was delighted to table my Bill to tackle the scourge of freight crime that is causing so many difficulties for local freight and logistics companies in North Warwickshire and Bedworth. 🧵1/6
My letter in the Guardian about why the Equality and Human Rights Commission's guidance on sex and gender is unworkable and goes far beyond what the Supreme Court judgement actually said.

Farage called misogynist influencer Andrew Tate an "important voice for men" and wants to scrap the online safety law that protects children from extreme pornography and women from revenge porn. Reform have no plan to keep people safe online.

Yesterday I completed my 1,500 mile journey from the UK to the Ukrainian border, where we handed over the ambulance and all the supplies generously donated by the British public.

Yesterday I set off in the ambulance from North Warwickshire and Bedworth on my three day trip to deliver aid and supplies to Ukraine. Here's what happened.

From North Warwickshire and Bedworth to Ukraine. 1500 miles. 3 ambulances. Desperately needed supplies.

It was an honour to be asked to drive a retired ambulance full of aid across Europe to the Ukrainian border by local business LKQ Euro Car Parts, as part of their enormous fundraising appeal.

My comment to @itvnews.bsky.social about Reform's 19-year-old council leader in Warwickshire and why I don't believe he has the experience necessary to lead a £600 million council.

No plan, no policies, and a council in chaos. Three months in, it's clear Reform are failing Warwickshire.

I am deeply concerned by Reform UK’s decision to railroad through the election of a 19-year-old with no previous experience to lead Warwickshire County Council.

It's about time someone took Reform to task for what they do, and not just what they say. @bbclaurak.bsky.social

Yesterday’s resignation of the Reform leader of Warwickshire Council and his replacement with an 18-year-old will be of real concern to my constituents. We need a functioning council to fill in potholes, deliver care services, and end the SEND crisis.

I'm delighted the government has accepted my amendment to make hate crimes against LGBT+ and disabled people aggravated offences, and will now table an amendment in the House of Lords to make it happen. Here's a bit of my speech on why this change is so important:

Today I spoke in the debate on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. I remain of the view that the status quo is unacceptable, and I have listened to constituents who have told me they want to see a change in the law.

I’ve tabled NC122 to the Crime and Policing Bill to make hate crimes against people because of their sexual orientation, transgender identity or disability an aggravated offence. We must treat these offences with the seriousness they deserve. Please ask your MP to sign NC122.

After yesterday’s nail-biting men’s French Open grand slam final, it was fantastic to speak to Naga about the power of elite sport, my past career as a Wimbledon umpire, and why securing investment for grassroots sport is one of my highest priorities as an MP.

1/ The recent Supreme Court ruling and the EHRC's interim Code of Practice has caused real concern for trans and non-binary people, including for constituents who have reached out to me. A quick🧵:

Thousands of jobs across the West Midlands have been saved thanks to the government's new trade deal with the US - including at Jaguar Land Rover in our constituency. I'm proud that this government is putting British workers first as they negotiate a better deal for Britain around the world.

The assisted dying bill comes back before parliament this week, having been strengthened and improved at the Committee Stage. Here's me explaining to Newsnight last year why I support a change in the law.
