That's been my sales pitch for a while now since I switched 2 years ago. "Yeah, it's a PITA, but actually less so than whatever bullshit Windows is doing now. Both are annoying. Linux is a bit less annoying"

FWIW I had the same issue and it was 100% DisplayPort. Used HDMI to install the OS, updated, and then it was fine, but it's weird to not be supported out of the box in 2025.
I'm pro-Linux but little stuff like this is why I get the frustration that makes people not be on board (& some big stuff)
