The American Chemical Society's job searching site is currently advertising a position for an associate veterinarian: chemistryjobs.acs.org/jobs/view/as...

The current level of neglect of the former C&EN Jobs is at a local maxima

"Let the market speak!"

OK the market wants batteries, not gas plants. Now stop whining.

Good news — In the U.S., wind and solar annual production has surpassed that of coal and is poised to edge out nuclear energy production as well by end of 2024.

As a kid, I had horrible arachnophobia partially because of an interaction with one of these.

But now I love spiders and these ladies are so beautiful.
It took me way too long to do this one, but it's finally finished. If you're the kind of person who wants to watch a 40-minute video about Argiope aurantia, then I got you.

Will solar PV soon be the cheapest source of electricity in most places around the world? This @naturecomms.bsky.social paper says yes.

Most surprisingly this is AFTER including short- and long-term storage costs for renewable energy sources.

Republican Governor Larry Hogan posted video of the constellation Orion and claimed the stars were “large drones” above his home.

Just a reminder that Republicans want to shut down the Department of Education.

I know this isn't the point of the article, but this line caught my attention:

"black plastic is not recyclable by traditional means because it does not reflect the infrared light used in sorting machines, but it is commercially desirable..."

Surely this is something we can fix.
This (via Andrew Gelman via Kevin Drum) is embarrassing and frustrating. It’s good to catch math errors ahead of time.

But there’s a larger point here, which is that the chemical industry is opaque about what’s in consumer products, and it shouldn’t be.
