Lectures in English. Dances in French. Scowls in German.
Quite alarmed at how much I like this. A Bella Freud dupe for we suffering, unfortunate types. In 120% acrylic.

Frustratingly, Summer 2000 is the oldest full issue I can access online via ProQuest & there’s no institutional log in option on the journal’s home page to access their back catalogue. I’m sorry.

Jesus, Daily Telegraph, at least pretend to care about us poor unfortunates in the migrainous hypochondriac community.

Read these pretty much back to back & I do hope they’ve met & like/hate each other intensely because the similarities are striking.

Congratulations to your daughter! And to you and your wife for finding a way to navigate this. It’s difficult & painful. My daughter’s a few years further down the same journey & is now packing for life in a Durham college, panicking at her lack of formal wear & laughing at this nonsense:

5 mos in a new house & I’m still surprised delighted to be able to hear Sunday morning church bells from any room I’m in. It’s the same unfathomable bit of me that also likes The Archers & some other odd Ye Olden Days Middle England stuff. Beautiful church though, no?

What actor’s expression in a movie will stay with you the rest of your life?

New house, new prints, as is the law. These brilliant creations from @stuffbymark.bsky.social. (With a nod to @harryflowers.bsky.social for the post which flagged up Mark’s work.)

I’m not sure keeping Granny in a top-range garden shed so she can get to work on time as the unpaid domestic quite qualifies as ‘embracing multi-generational living’ but then I’m not an aspirational DT reader so what do I know?

Share a crush you have, no explanation.
(Though if anyone can provide a rational explanation, I’d genuinely be forever grateful.)

This beauty was released on Audible yesterday. That’s pretty much the weekend sorted.

Four amazing albums from the year you turned 16.

I do hope that the disrespected friend here later finds that smacking her former friend in the mouth, like really fucking hard, helps enormously with her grief.

I was a bit nervous going into this one because I love David Peace’s writing but hated Red or Dead. This is an extraordinary read though - it’s so carefully crafted and it’s intimate, it’s heartbreaking & it’s haunting. Deserving of all the critical acclaim.

If you see this, post an image you saved because it made you laugh.

Well, we can all say this about at least one of our first dates. Though granted, this one doesn’t involve a furtive, hasty sexual encounter in an ill lit railway arch or city park.
