We were out early in Harpers Ferry to celebrate and support our National Park Service friends and neighbors. And also to remember John Brown, an abolitionist who gave his life to fight the institution of slavery. This administration may try to erase history but we will not let that happen.

At the John Brown museum in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia today. About 150 of us came out to protest government plans to erase our history. Slavery happened. John Brown took up arms to end the horrible system of human enslavement. Covering up the exhibits won’t erase the truth.

From “Let them eat cake” to “Let’s destroy the cake” – US foreign aid today. This is tragic, wrong, immoral. It makes me sick.

US aid workers lobbied for weeks to save food stocks from destruction after Trump cuts
With 1,100 metric tons of emergency food rations nearing expiry in a U.S. government warehouse in Dubai after President Donald Trump's aid freeze, it took a warning of "wasted tax dollars" for a top U.S. official to eventually agree to a deal for the supplies to be used, sources told Reuters.

The One Big Beautiful Bill could really hurt West Virginians who rely on Medicaid for health care. The Senate version of the bill makes even deeper cuts to Medicaid. These cuts could devastate health care in one of the poorest states in the country.

In West Virginia, Medicaid is a lifeline. GOP cuts could devastate the state.
GOP states are particularly reliant on a program that President Donald Trump and other Republicans have targeted for deep spending reductions.

Where is the strategy? Where is the end? We should know better by now. An excellent article by one of Steady State's own, Charles Ray.

A very important read, Folks. Following the military junta in Myanmar and Nazis is not good. And it’s also not good to repeat the horrors of our own past. There is a better way: Address conditions that force people to migrate, including brutal regimes, economic disparity, climate change, etc.
Calling it "remigration" normalizes ethnic cleansing.
We cannot become desensitized to Marco Rubio's recent proposal.

Here we are in Charles Town, deep red West Virginia for our weekly gathering in support of veterans, healthcare, our Constitutional republic, and our democratic values. We are in front of the Court House where abolitionist John Brown was tried for treason and sentenced to death.
