I am playing some of the golden oldies from the 60's while preparing lunch, every request fine apart from this one... is it an Alexa joke I wonder?

In my opinion there are two factors at play here.

Automation, when pundits worry that productivity has stalled they are asking for more of this.

Rationalisation, these CEOs only answer to shareholders and will strip back organisations to almost failure point if it realises short term profit.
Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

MPs urge Reeves to raise gambling taxes despite ‘scaremongering’ from firms.

Quite right.

Bet365 CEO collected £323m in pay and dividends last year. Company paid 12.7% corporation tax on £1.4bn profit.

Almost all betting companies have offshore tax haven operations, solely to dodge UK taxes.

This morning, I joined the Welland Community forum volunteers on their tidy up of the Western Avenue precinct.

I couldn't help for long as someone called a by-election!

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇

The WEF convenes governments and corporations, potentially creating policy environments favourable to asset manager interests. Those policy environments include freeports, special economic zones, and AI Growth Zones.
Zones carve out deregulated corporate territories from the host country.

Implications for Vulnerable and Working People:
1. Policy Influence on Essential Services:
With direct influence over both investment flows (through BlackRock) and policy frameworks (through WEF), Fink can shape how essential infrastructure is financed globally

The Concentration of Power:
Fink leads BlackRock, which manages over $11 trillion in assets, making it the world's largest asset manager. His dual role as BlackRock CEO and WEF co-chair represents an unprecedented concentration of financial and policy influence.

This is not economic growth for everyone as Labour likes to constantly remind us of; it is an extraction machine designed for the super-rich to punch down on critical infrastructure within the public sector in order to ultimately privatise it.
It's a giant Ponzi Scheme.

Keir Starmer knows this, which is why he and Rachel Reeves refuse to tax predatory corporations like Blackrock properly.
But they are more than happy to. raise your income taxes on top of the increased bills you pay.

This purchase includes the debt from banks and bond markets.
However, that debt does not sit on Blackrock's books it sits with the company they just bought, the company not the asset manager, has to pay it back. The debt is passed on to you, the consumer in the form of higher bills.

When Green party critics call our thoroughly researched policies that are often worked through for years "simplistic" "undeliverable" etc, they are never specific about which policies or why.

That's because it would reveal that what they really mean is "our donors don't like them"

This evening I took my mother and daughters to Rushden Hall fireworks.

I am usually conflicted by fireworks but this one allowed me, and 9,999 others to support the local scouting troops.

This show is a dress rehearsal for a major show in London.

Enjoy the finale!
