The NAACP will not invite President Trump to its national convention this year — the first time in the civil rights organization’s 116-year history that it has excluded a sitting president — citing his attempts to undermine American democracy.
NAACP won’t invite Trump to convention, breaking a 116-year tradition
The civil rights group condemned what it said was President Donald Trump’s attempt to undermine democracy. It has invited sitting presidents since 1909.

this is a good time to remember that conservatives only ever want to be in more left leaning spaces to get reactions out of people, if enough people block them they’ll get bored and leave

Vance is here to grab content he can post on X, using your replies. Starve the beast.
This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.
Vice-President JD Vance confirms he has joined BlueSky.

This binary thinking is childlike and exhausting. In the battle for public opinion, people who see these images might not actively become Trump supporters, but they'll see images that support *his* narrative, think "all sides are crazy," and tune out. That's a win for Trump.
So Americans will be persuaded to embrace ICE because of these images?

The whole point of images and optics is that they short-circuit any kind of thoughtful analysis. Trump wants pics and video. For a reason. "But it's not fair!" and "But it's LA!" don't matter.
They *do not matter.*
In the fight for the narrative, Trump's notched wins in LA already.
I agree these optics are bad but I will point out that Trump is responsible for them. The last time we had these optics was while Trump was POTUS & he also sent unidentified goons, unauthorized by local leaders, into democratic cities.

You know what's worse? Goons kidnapping people off streets.

The totalitarian levels of bad faith and disingenuousness from MAGA is funny at one level but also deeply depressing because it’s the foundation for all this and until it cracks, I’m not quite sure how we get out alive.

Interesting that nobody is seriously considering suing Trump for treating the successful economy he’s busy trashing as an “emergency” justifying taxation without representation. The tariff laws and the National Emergencies Act would be unconstitutional if they really authorized this form of tyranny.
It’s weird* that the president can just decide to put a huge tax on American businesses without congress even being a little bit involved.

* very unconstitutional
