And when you use “help” to punish, shame, or override - it’s not care.

This is becoming comical. The fact that no one means to be comical is not lost on me though. And just like that, bluesky has become facebook 2.0. People are people wherever you go.

Respectfully: I really don’t care. Regardless, the load bearing point of the original communication is clear. If we were verbally communicating you’d absolutely know exactly which one I meant. Incidentally, this exchange adds nothing of value to the actual conversation. Which still remains an issue…

I get it. For myself, though, I’ve come to associate language policing outside of academia as more about maintaining status quo and gatekeeping and have made more of an effort to forego correcting ppl if the meaning is clear.

The only reason their ideas aren’t realistic is because the establishment politicians refuse to even consider them, let alone implement them.

They are reigned in. They need to be freed.

Toyed with the idea of getting a formal diagnosis but *waves hand at the world* decided against it because the only change would be an official label. I know what I know and I am know I am autistic.

My lived experience confirms this analysis and informs my decision to accept my ‘outsider’ status. And not for a lack of trying to be ‘inside’.

Personally, I think it’s okay to put blame where it belongs. But I understand the tendency to soften the message lest a battalion of defensive unhealed parents come for any1 who dares to acknowledge how responsible parents r 4 the havoc the create in and for the lives they brought into this world.

And/or get yourself diagnosed/self explore as ADHD and autism are genetic. What I have noted about patterns and cycles is there is one person in a generation who gets scapegoated for all the unrecognized and undiagnosed neurodivergence and mental illness.

The possibilities are endless really. Off duty cop, who gets to use his cruiser like his own personal vehicle? Retired cop who retrofitted an auctioned off cop are? Ex military, cop adjacent who retrofitted an auctioned cop car??…
