None of the above.
@joebruno.bsky.social @jeffjacksonnc.bsky.social I know Cat greatly appreciated all that you both do for Charlotte. ❤️

We hope we are even half as strong and principled as Cat was, and that we can honor her love for us by continuing to face each day’s challenges head on and working tirelessly to make the world a better place for all.

For those of us who knew Cat best, we will miss her spark, her optimism, and the warmth of her deep love for all.

I learned so much from Cat, and will miss her terribly, but I know she’s left a legacy of many people who were inspired by her and will continue fighting in her name. The battles aren’t over, they will just be carried on in her honor.

…but she always faced the challenges of her illness on her own terms, showing a strength of character equal to, if not surpassing, many heroes of yore.

When someone faces a long, chronic illness, it’s often described as “fighting a battle” which implies that a person who passes lost their fight. It’s true that Cat fought every day to make many things better…

Whenever Cat was frustrated by her own challenges, she always shifted towards focusing on what was within her control and remaining hopeful that she would find solutions to her challenges, an incredible lesson for us all.

Even as her own options dwindled this past year, she made sure she asked after my brother and father regularly, knowing I was also dealing with their health issues.

She was very active online and while her health permitted, she would volunteer with local charities. She fought tirelessly for justice on all fronts—disability rights, women’s rights, social equity—and always looked for ways to make others happy.

Over the past 6 months, the transplanted lungs began to fail, and due to all the other complications, she ran out of treatments to pursue. 😪💔

Despite all of that, Cat lived an incredible life. ❤️

Cat spent her entire adult life in and out of hospitals, undergoing an extremely risky and arduous lung transplant in December 2020 that gave her a brief respite from the breathing issues but added gastropareisis, kidney failure, and cancer to the mix.

The rare mutation allowed her to live well beyond the usual life span of “early 20’s” at the time, but it also meant that every time a new drug was discovered, it usually proved ineffective for her strain.

For every cowardly elected official there’s 10,000 normal people being brave and it makes you dislike the cowardly elected official even more but more than that it gives you hope that there’s a better way for everybody
