For my fellow Gen Xers and older was there a nation-wide dulcimer craze in the (early 80’s) or was that just where I grew up?? If so, how the heck did it get started??!!

#SaturdaySweetness I discovered that Pop Wezl likes having a stroopwafel for dessert so I bought a large box last Sept while flying thru Amsterdam for work. Bc Pop doesn’t remember much these days, I simply refill with new smaller boxes and Pop is perpetually thrilled that his treat came from AMS. ❤️

So back to the #Weekend3 for this week… I’m going to stick with catchup tasks to clear my plate a bit.

1. Brush the Shed Monsters (aka #Dogs) as fully as possible
2. Catch up on 2 pages of visual journaling minimum (I’m behind by 7 entries right now)
3. Check the clothing I need for my trip.

My son had an orange kitty that used to sleep like that so often, I bought this painting for him from a favorite artist (Vicky Mount). She’d painted it of a third orange boi she knew. 🤣❤️

We adopted #Ripley from a shelter transport that moved dogs from AR to CT. She was our hot weather pup until this year when the #husky has finally kicked in. ❤️

After posting about my life hacks for quick breads, I’m doing the fun baking. Today I’m taking care of the most time consuming task, which is candying fruit to decorate the top of my tart. I’m using clementines, limes, and a new one for me: Cara Cara oranges. Plus cranberries! #baking

I’ve said before how each year I enjoy my holidays because I only put effort into things I enjoy doing. I like baking so I put all my energy into a lovely family dessert (repeating the tart shown below). For the neighbors, I make quick bread mixes but zhuzh them up with a few super quick plus-ups.

Last year we made @snoopdoggydogg.bsky.social’s Honey Blazed Ham recipe for Xmas on a whim. It is now THE family Xmas dinner tradition—absolutely delicious!!!
Image is of a full recipe as follows: Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party Snoop’s Honey Blazed Ham Prep 5 min Total time 2.5 hours Serves 8-10 Ingredients 3 cups pineapple juice 2 cups honey 1/2 cup brown sugar 2 tablespoons Reo’s Seasoning 1/4 cup whole milk 14 lb honey baked ham, spiral cut Directions 1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F, Line a large roasting pan with foil and parchment paper, set aside 2. To make marinade, whisk to combine, pineapple juice, honey, brown sugar, Reo’s seasoning and milk. Place ham in a parchment and foil lined pan, skin side up and pour over 1 cup marinade 3. Bake ham for 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes with marinade until internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F and skin is golden and crisp 4. Place ham on platter and let rest 15-20 minutes. Carve to serve Personal note: We’ve substituted Lowry’s seasoned salt for the Reo’s seasoning and we use almond milk with no issues.

Part of parenting is watching your kiddo make the exact same mistakes as you, like thinking the cat would look adorable in a holiday sweater. Thankfully there was no bloodshed, but there was one holiday sweater shed immediately following the photo op. 😝

I didn’t post a #Caturday #Weekend3 because I’m working off of my overall Xmas vacation list of fun, responsibilities & ambition. Yesterday was some “must dos” as I shopped for baking supplies & finished present shopping. Today is fun as we’re exchanging gifts w/our former neighbors. A few naps too!
