Mr. Amery: Thank you once again, Mr. Speaker. Our government remains firmly committed, once again, to working very closely with Indigenous communities and supporting them in advancing reconciliation all across this province. That’s exactly why we’ve made progress on 24 of the 29 truth and reconciliation calls to action that relate to this province. Bill 13 is very clear. It restricts mandatory training that is unrelated to a professional’s competence and their ethics. If certain training is relevant to someone’s competence, it’ll be allowed always.

Good morning, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your thoughts on Bill 9, Protecting Alberta’s Children Statutes Amendment Act. We are happy to share with you, MLA Guthrie’s written response: When legislation is introduced in the House, MLAs have not read the bill nor received a briefing beforehand— or at least, the UCP does not provide these in advance. First Reading is simply the introduction stage; the bill cannot be reviewed until it is tabled. Without prior disclosure from the Government, we do not know its contents at that point. It is rare to vote against a bill at First Reading without prior knowledge, which is why we voted in favour of receiving/reviewing the bill. Now that I’ve seen its purpose—to amend three prior pieces of legislation with the only objective being implementation of the “notwithstanding” clause - once again circumventing the courts—I will not support Bill 9 in later voting stages. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their thoughts on legislation before the Assembly. Your feedback is important and greatly appreciated. Kind regards,[truncated]

Correct, but bear in mind that the list of qualifying medical conditions to get it for free is quite broad and some categories are, I would say, fairly vague.
Eligible underlying medical conditions cerebrovascular disease chronic liver diseases chronic lung diseases chronic kidney diseases cystic fibrosis diabetes mellitus, type 1 and type 2 disabilities (for example, Down syndrome, learning, intellectual, or developmental disabilities; ADHD; cerebral palsy; congenital disabilities; spinal cord injuries) heart conditions (for example, cardiomyopathies, coronary artery disease, heart failure, etc.) mental health disorders (limited to: mood disorders, including depression; schizophrenia, spectrum disorders) obesity pregnancy tuberculosis Eligible immunocompromising conditions cancer (currently receiving treatment) HIV infection primary immunodeficiency diseases solid organ or blood stem cell transplant use of corticosteroids, other immunosuppressive medication or CAR T-cell therapy
