I'm Co-Chair of Halifax Cycling Coalition, working hard to make cycling in Halifax safer, more convenient and more joyful. In this role, I focus first and foremost on the 60% of the population who would cycle more if it felt safe.
Wagners Law brought their ever-popular arm/leg bands with flashing light and handed them out to the 110 riders at I Light HFX 2025. Halifax Cycling Coalition had their tent with hot chocolate and other refreshments as well as prizes donated by Halifax Cycles, Giant Halifax and Long Alley Bicycles.

She is also the one, at the last TSC meeting, who pressed the HRP rep to reluctantly admit that enforcement of traffic violations is half of what it was in 2016. At one point some folks were saying that we need for 2028 a progressive, suburban woman to run for mayor — is Kathryn Morse that person?

We got a bunch of them when the Junos were held here. I’ve also seen guitars and saxophones.

We (HCC) will be pressing hard, in our representations to the province, to make cross-rides (green painted crossings) legal in the regulations accompanying the new Traffic Safety Act.

Yeah. Too many critical people can’t make it. I’ll try to get the website updated.

It’s looking like rain will taper to drizzle by evening. If it turns for the worse, we will cancel. No rain date is planned.

I think you’re right. I’ll take that out.

The act is very skeletal. Most important content will be in the regulations.

Yes, I’ve added that. Will repost when there is no more feedback

At first I thought you were right on but then I remembered that the power applied to a bicycle even by a rider is measured in watts. That wording reflects that and shows up in other jurisdictions.

I don’t know their intentions. But I am using previous submissions in developing what we go in with. The context has evolved somewhat, particularly the range of what we would want included in the definition of a bicycle.

I agree that speed is the risk factor but I understand that speed limiting is easy to defeat, so I think it is important to have a static, verifiable limit as well.
