Reading this @Nature piece, it really is just the old proverb: he who pays the piper calls the tune. When is asymmetrical power ever given up voluntarily? At the very least, it requires seeing others as extensions of self, not as foreign.

Nice overview by Simon Fillatreau et al. on antigen-specific Treg development. But they miss the point: saying high funtional affinity thymocytes become Tregs and low-affinity become Tconv. Who gets deleted then? Weren’t those high-affinity clones?

1/ This “working model” of Treg suppression (Shevach et al., 2006) has dominated immunology for 25+ years with little scrutiny. It proposes that Foxp3⁺ Tregs suppress T cells in an antigen-non-specific manner:a Treg specific for A can suppress T cells specific for B.
