Quilt finishing services are great! My mom has been quilting for decades and used to do it all herself, but once she started hiring out the final part it really allowed her to focus on the parts she enjoyed more.

I also just realized I have a sketch book which has some of my earliest ideas. I was kind of cooking with the "sloth climbing a tree" approach.

Basic movement logic for Juan. If Pugzy is in his sight line he will move in her direction until the edge of a platform. He's a solid actor so he pushes Pugzy and blocks her from jumping back up. #gbstudio

Finally, I went back to a very strong silhouette and went white to lean into the elegant swan idea as opposed to ugly duckling. Very happy with this. #gbstudio #pixelart #screenshotsaturday

Turning the eggshell into a duck/swan body helped it register more as a conceivable creature. But the giant beak was just not quite working. Switching the head to a duck helped, but in order to keep the 2 shape I had a weird halo of feathers.

For enemy number 2, I first experimented with a variety of concepts for animals that could match the silhouette. Snake in a sock was a strong contender, but the weird parrot head ended up being the more fruitful direction. #pixelart #screenshotsaturday #gbstudio

Iterating on the first enemy, Juan. First version has some personality. But he's just a few pixels too wide to fit in 4 Gameboy tiles.
