And look, to preempt some nonsense talks like this generate, I’m blue no matter who in a general election barring something really off the walls and unthinkable. But we’ve got to push politicians across the board to always do better. That’s just part of the package.

I really think this should be part of the Democratic line here: In America, everyone should have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and not be told they aren’t allowed just because they’re different or in an unpopular minority. Something other Dems like @gallego.senate.gov should think about.

Again I have to stress this, the swimmer that’s made a better career for herself attacking trans people tied with one for fifth behind four other cis women. That speaks volumes. This isn’t a real issue and we don’t need to be validating Republicans on it.

Secondly, as someone who, like @petebuttigieg.bsky.social , was a gay kid coming of age back when Democrats were taking roughly the same position on marriage equality, I’m less than thrilled to see him taking a similar tact here.

To be clear here, the concern is not AI going rogue or any sci-fi type scenario. It’s, as a good friend of mine says “AI is going to enable humans to do the worst things”.

Democrats have not tried any of the moral framing efforts Lakoff’s work recommends on trans rights or much of anything else. And from one person with a rainbow flag to another, just remember we’re likely the next people under the bus if we go that route.
