Europeans are waking up this morning to find the new US National Security Strategy (quietly) released. And what it has to say on Europe could not be clearer. On the „stark prospect of civilizations erasure“ for example. 👇

In 1978, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors downzoned the city, banning multifamily homes in many areas and sparking a decades-long affordability crisis.

47 years later, on a 7–4 vote, they passed the Family Zoning Plan to finally begin to undo that mistake.

The times, they are a-changin’!

In 1582, a papal bull introduced the Gregorian calendar, still used today by most of the world. Because it’s 11 days ahead of the Julian calendar, countries introducing it simply skipped a third of October, and if you scroll back far enough in the iPhone calendar app you can see it change

I’m flying a very weird path from Berlin to JFK today. I suspect the flight planner was using the Mercator projection.

@brenttoderian.bsky.social Gigantic SUVs? you mean like the Ford F650 subcompact?

The F150 is no longer sufficient to allow a man to assert his masculinity, Ford's advertising is now pushing the F650 as being essential to allow a male to produce testosterone ! […]

Six years ago tomorrow, my family and I rode a cable car to begin a two day hike to the Amalfi Coast. Today, that cable snapped and a car crashed, killing four people. Terrifying. My thoughts are with their families.

My neighborhood’s trade deficit with our local supermarket is off the charts. We buy from them but they buy nothing from us. Our local government must tax them until they agree to buy my strawberries.
