1985 anti-growth public commenters put much more effort into their craft. I love this one that is structured as a mini-screenplay. Art in the service of the public.

This person is not super engaged if they’re not aware of the project that has been in progress since 2024 at this intersection.

I think they may have other concerns they just aren’t sharing 🤔

If you're looking for a map/stats like this we have a process @parkingreform.org to get there. Happy to try these tools out within that process. Requires some digging into zoning and then mapping parking lots (which this tool appears to help automate).

This map of current San Mateo parking districts is a perfect example of the difference between "Peninsula North" and actual North.

They should add this sign. Sharrows on that road are silly and unsafe.

I think this green 65ft area near Belmont Caltrain should be deleted since it is within Belmont city limits and the city is below the population threshold.

Nailed the Caltrain to SamTrans 292 transfer.

I’d like to take the small amount of time I have to wait to tell you that SFO Airtrain should go to Millbrae.

So beautiful. Adding to my modal filter collection.

Belmont updated their GHG emissions inventory and it's a similar story to other cities on the Peninsula. ~50% of emissions are on-street transportation.

More walking and biking help move the needle but progress is so sloooow it can just be maddening. We have the perfect weather almost year-round!

Wild this is someone out there operating a vehicle but even more wild that this person feels like this is so normalized they can post it on Nextdoor

When your crosswalk has dance instructions you may want to shorten your crosswalk 🕺💃

New Kermit and crosswalks 😍

I don't believe you, sign

If all goes smoothly there would be a final design later this year and construction starting in the middle of 2026.

They also had a very small survey of trip lengths and that data shows many more 1-3 mile trips than the NREL data I had looked at that is over a decade old at this point. Looks like ~10% of trips shifted from 0-1 mi to 1-3 mi between the datasets.

We will even get a floating bus island. I'm not sure if San Mateo is ready for floating bus islands.

Protected Bike Lanes are coming to the City of San Mateo!

Some highlight from the plan for 19th/Fashion Island. Protected intersections, slip lanes removed, car traffic mitigations (more queueing space/optimizing travel lane direction)

Tough tradeoffs but overall an exciting initial design!

I wish we had something like this Munich playground with a beer garden. Obviously not popular in the winter but this would be amazing with our weather in the Bay Area.
August 17, 2025 at 8:05 PM
One of these options would look great!

I’ve never seen a bike like this. An aspirational penny farthing?
August 14, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Another maddening one. This Burlingame resident wants to wait for the official police report before releasing any e-bike from blame.

Standing room only Caltrain mid-day on a Sunday. People love awesome trains with good service (and going to Giants games in this case).
August 10, 2025 at 6:36 PM
We did make it to the game but the cell service in the stadium was not great. Quakes pull out a win! Train home is just as cool as the train we took here.

Didn’t have to pay $35 for parking and we only walked slightly farther than this parking garage!
August 10, 2025 at 3:03 AM
We were going to take the VTA 60 bus but it looked like it might get stuck in game traffic so we opted to walk. The walk really wasn’t bad.
