How is this new? I recall seeing this claim for 10+ years, that natural gas is greenER than coal, therefore it's an improvement, hence in some areas CNG is used for cars or trucks.
I agree this is nonsense - burnt natural gas is CO2 which degrades the climate.

They do have a point - isn't EU accession a process of mutual agreement? I haven't looked at the EU process, but the NATO process also requires mutual agreement, and e.g. Finland/Sweden's accession to NATO was similarly blocked until everyone agreed.

While the EU ratchets up sanction, the USA plans to decrease its aid to Ukraine according to Defense Secretary Hegseth.
