The kid is clearly not thinking it through. They should ask first why haven't you graded it, and then why you say it was late they say but "I emailed it to you weeks ago. Must have gotten lost any why here it is again, looking forward to the feedback."

A kid emailed me asking why I hadn't graded their essay yet, 4 minutes after they had submitted it. It was 2.5 weeks late.
