I think it is because in everyday life, creativity is becoming so lacking in our mainstream mass marketed media that is obsessed with marketing to the most people whilst cowering to shareholders that so many things now are just bog-standard with no better way to discribe them.

This difference continues into adulthood and in fact, the gap widens where adults who "didn't pay attention" pay even less attention and it is someone else's fault that they don't understand what is going on.
