I mean, perhaps it's as simple as people giving you shit for knowing a language other than English? When I was a kid and we would travel outside of my Mexican American community, people's aversion to our speaking Spanish in public made young me want to fling silly phrases at them like acid.

If your definition of "antisemitism" is "can never disagree with anything the State of Israel does no matter how vile or evil," what you're defending isn't Judaism, it's nationalism. And you're not a liberal or progressive of any stripe, you're a conservative, because ISRAEL IS A RIGHT WING COUNTRY.
