Same colour reference. First coat. Dulux Eggshell on the left, Dulux bathroom paint on the right.

I get that emulsion and water based wouldn’t be identical, but are we really having it that these are both what you would walk out with from the same colour swatch?!

For anyone who needs to hear it, knocking a home down to build another one is not sustainable however much wood you use.

And if you can afford £1m for something to destroy and rebuild, you can afford 20% VAT on retrofitting / extending the existing I’m afraid.

Sorry.

Blame Gove's desire to only have eduction we could measure with a stick. While General Studies was considered an 'easy' subject, I enjoyed it and got a lot from it.

What's the lesson here I hear you ask?

He became what he is today with two U's when only one was needed.

It was only later the remaining two letters became clear.

There have been some strong contenders over the years, but I can't see a better candidate than this for worst English top division kit of all time.

Friends say he might not survive another day at UKREiiF. Sunburn. In Leeds?! And…

Ginormous crotch-first Beckham.

Perhaps my new band name?

But just imagine if he'd had access to the ominously titled 'volume 1' (of no specified total number...) of the Autopoiesis of Architecture.

To be fair, Gyokeres' total non-penalty goals is 18 against an xG of 15, so 'only' 20% over. That could be down to elite finishing.

But then to get 40% of your goals from pens smacks of stat padding a bit...

What does this mean? Are there sideways facing practices? Downwards ones?

Early morning in a sunnier past.

Rome, where it is often still sunny, literally if not necessarily metaphorically.

Thank you Architect's Data File magazine for succinctly illustrating where the industry is at in understanding and specifying bio-based materials.

Great to see so many 'yes' though. Whatever that means...

Somewhat challenging lighting conditions at Vila Park. Not in real life obviously…

Here is the latest in our 25 year long tradition of more than slightly unseasonal greetings cards.

Happy New Year and all that from all at Waugh Thistleton.

If you find this mildly diverting, the card archive can be found by clicking the Christmas tree icon on the 'Practice' page of our website.

The smallest pack of onions in my local Tesco. I’m going away tomorrow but I want to cook dinner. Is there any wonder we waste so much.

Here at our practice we lead the world in generating new knowledge in sustainable architecture using wood, whilst designing and delivering buildings. Instead of employing people without paying them to support this, we simply are not rich. Happy to explain this model to Daniel.

Is the tip "Be Eduardo Souto De Moura'?

Think it might actually be the Pier Head Ferry Terminal you're after.

Although that itself looks like the Museum put through a grinder. And then the art museum you've posted looks like the result has been plugged into AI to Liebeskind it up a bit more.

There are many very valid reasons why people hate architects, and lots of invalid ones. But the ones that allow 'DDA Shower' to find its way all the way onto the signage of a finished project deserve everything they get.

'Excuse me sir, can you direct me to the anti-discriminatory shower?'

No.

I feel like this is not a great tip.

3rd party peer review of our LCA for Black and White is in, and I'm delighted to say there are no negative comments on our methodology.

Using their more recently published methodology (ie not available to us at the time) they are within 10% of our measured embodied carbon figure.
