This is hot-take click bait. Rethugs may be fighting but they hate you more and will lock arms when they need to.

When I was in local TV news, consultants would tell us to do things differently. We did, and ratings fell. Their answer: You're not doing it hard enough. Very similar energy here.

I guess it's good to know she has cable TV inside her bubble.

Definitely good advice. There's a full-day seminar here but here's 2 other points: > Be positive: Don't tell me what you're against - tell me what you're for. > Answer the question, "What's in it for me?" Make abstract ideas (being pro-democracy) into personal benefits (your freedom).

He hasn't been right since his health crisis. He will be a very competitive candidate for the Republicans.

"..it is hard to see why a sports fan would then need to separately subscribe to Peacock." So the channel will carry 5 or 6 10am EST Premiere League matches all at once? LOL. Many other sports on Peacock - rugby sevens, Olympic sports, more -far more than a single-window channel allows.

And all of this ignores the fact that right-wing media willingly acts as propagandists while the rest of media is (properly) not organized. The tool you seek is the willingness to write the larger truth behind the specific claim. This tool is already in the tool box. It is simply not used. /end

Forcing media to report on whether some allegation is true or not allows Trump to obscure the larger picture of the creation of a state supported entirely by fiction. Our press has to understand its core allegiance is to the truth, not to fairness as truth can often feel unfair to someone. 4/x

...because Trumpaganda goes first, setting the terms of debate and leaving media to say, if they dare, "that's not true," which they rarely do. They've learned Rove's maxim, that they are an empire and will act and create their own reality first. 3/x

We are now deep into Trump and Miller's time of dominating politics and media. The main lesson - speak plainly, write simply, expose the truth behind the claim - has not been learned, or, at best, not been implemented across the board. Media remain at a disadvantage, though... 2/x

Excellent analysis, as usual. One comment: You write, "The media needs to find new tools to convey these basic realities." I think this lets reporters and editors off too easily. There are only two tools in journalism - words and pictures -- and they already exist. They simply fail to use them. 1/x

If the Times had self-respect, it would have shut down its political coverage years ago. Better they do nothing than what they're doing now.

Understood. So even if you say there's no paperwork and say that you gave your parents a corresponding gift later in life when you could afford it, there's still IRS liability. Killshot, indeed.

Thank you so much for helping me make sense of this abusive nonsense. Greatly appreciated!

Question: How do prosecutors know it was a loan and not a gift when many of these were probably not backed with a contract? And thank you for the explanation -- this issue didn't make sense to me until now.
