In the last week, I've had three robocalls and a dozen emails, all telling me that I've won a prize in a contest I've never entered. Some claim to be from major companies, and call me their customer even though I've never done business with them. Yeah, suuuuure!

In a restaurant in South Carolina, my waitress was a Marion Cotillard look-alike, and I had to work hard to restrain myself from going publicly doolally.

This is an antique toasting fork. Back in the day, you had to hold this over an open fire with a slice of bread on the end, and hope your arm didn't get so tired that you let the fork sag and incinerate the slice.

I live near a bird sanctuary, and there are often owls hooting in my trees at night. There's also a beautiful red-tailed hawk that like to hunt in the pasture behind my house.

I don't understand how anyone finds entertainment in watching people beat each other up. Boxing, MMA and the cartoonish melodrama of "professional" wrestling seem pathetic to me. Is this just people clinging to the rapidly fading Age of Machismo?
