Berlin Irish. Bad speller. Worse proof reader. Here to enthuse about my niche interests and watch you enthusing about yours.
I don't mean to alarm anyone but I'm having so much fun driving my wee Lego train around it's 2m or so of circular track, I fear this might be the start of a long slide into me getting into model railways or something...

At long last, I have all the bits to make the train go at a sensible speed and I’m partially delighted in part in fear about how grumpy the #MiniPferds are gonna be when I tell them this now gets put away for almost a month until we get a tree…

Would this harm my enjoyment? No doubt. Would it increase my annoyance from being totally overexposed to efforts to sell me stuff at every possible moment in all possible ways all the time? For sure. Will I close my eyes and take it if it's part of bargain to keep Six Nations on free-to-air? Yes.
Picture-in-picture adverts are coming to ITV's Six Nations rugby coverage for the first time next year.

There will be one in each half "when there's a break in the action just before a scrum."

Wangled meself another work trip to Rome. Start of December this time. Any tips on Roman / Italian Christmastime traditions that I should do / see / taste? Preferably stuff I’ll miss just from trying to read about it on the internet. @idontruckingknow.bsky.social, mostly looking in your direction!

I was a fairly gothy teen in the late-90s and early-00s. Was walking down the street head to foot in black. Some lad goes, "Here, mate, your blacks are clashing." Fair play.
I am calling upon the people of Ireland to immediately begin construction of a thread on this site about how you or someone you know was roasted for a fashion choice. We need it.

All roasts must have come from Irish people *only*. Please respect this important rule, it makes a difference.

Tanks

Some days are a lot longer than others, so I’m going to declare that I deserve this.

For the say that’s in it: a picture of #WeePferd’s stuffed koala that, to me eyes, bears more than a passing resemblance to a departing president.

Love of goodness why does every actor not from Northern Ireland in this sound like they’re doing an impression of someone doing an impression of Eamonn Holmes?
Enjoyed Louise Kennedy’s “Trespasses” well enough when I read it, although it's far from the best fictionalisation of The Troubles I can think of. Intrigued by the dramatisation but I’m not sure I'll be able to cope if Gillian Anderson’s Norn Iron accent sounds anything like how I imagine it does.

As much as I love a forward kicking, Matera had time to slow, look and think before executing under no pressure. Poor effort to get back after, too. Some good stuff from Wales but that lack of effort’s gotta be a worry because effort is one thing you should expect in a coach’s first game #WALvARG

Nothing makes you grateful for the limitations of your own national team like watching Wales, like… Honestly don’t know how anyone can get themselves up for watching this time after time! #WALvARG

#WeePferd and I down the forest taking in some of the seasonal colour.

Time to talk, again, about the great job German rugby comms do. Lads who love rugby talking about why, while describing the game to an unfamiliar audience. None of the self-obsession, forced banter or totally OTT and horribly affected “personalities” that plague English-language comms 👌

For the sake of rugby, I'm glad that they've called that a red. Some sympathy because you can see the mitigation: Ramos is on the floor but I don't think you can go around throwing shoulders like that. You're not trying to make a rugby tackle if you're doing that #FRAvRSA

I realise it’s just lasagne and no one’s impressed with that anymore and all but even then, this looks like it’s worth every second if you ask me.

Rugby crowds everywhere should be mandated to enjoy themselves and have as much fun as everyone in this stadium in Spain is, right now. Fantastic stuff! #ESPvIRE

Making my own pasta is definitely a bit of an affectation but it really, really, does make a huge difference in a lasagne.

At the start of this series, was worried Ireland could lose 3 of 4 without meaningful squad development. After that half, I’m worried it’ll be 4 from 4 without meaningful development and, man, there’s some lads having poor games and all but the hubris from the coaches is palpable… #IREvJPN
November 8, 2025 at 1:35 PM
There’s a weird cluster of Ireland fans who seem to take genuine relish in Jacob Stockdale making an error in a way that just doesn’t happen to any other player and I have to wonder why… Did he have a good half, even before that yellow? No. Is he the worst performer out there? Far from it #IREvJPN

Ireland’s lineout, like… #IREvJPN

The November internationals coincide with a change in the speed of our lives. We slow down. Move inside. Focus on ourselves before the rush of Christmas. Missed last week, to today is my first chance to sit down to a whole day of rugby. What a great excuse to make an eight-hour lasagne…

Finished. Speed out of control and I need to spend like €30 on more bits, which would usually put me in a bad mood but Lego train we got to go around our Christmas tree has a wee Lego train that goes around the Christmas tree on the one we got to go around ours and it’s put me in such a good mood…

Not gonna lie, genuinely very excited at the thought of getting to see a game of elite (or near enough) professional club rugby in a place like Amsterdam that's usually a bit off the beaten track for such things.
