would highly recommend! i found the chainmail to be not terribly difficult to pick up (with some decent dexterity as a prerequisite) and very satisfying to work on

oo that sounds great! the pattern sounds very summery, i'm picturing seersucker type stripes. pants are definitely a good project if you don't sew much, too. i at least find them much easier than shirts and such, less finicky in the details
