Shame destroys so much art in infancy.
There are seven of these proof copies in existence and I'm going to hoard mine. Also squee over it. And probably cover it in editorial sticky notes. We have a book!

The proof copies of Soul Flame arrived today and told us three things:
1) The cover art is going to need to be brightened a LOT to look good printed
2) The book is a lot thicker than we thought (I didn't think 328 pages would be so hefty)
3) We definitely need to do a large print edition (I am Old)

If you judge an idea before drawing it, you're missing out on seeing it's full potential. Ideas are unclear and unfinished in our mind.

I want to remember / redisocver how to be looser. Loose sketches, loose words thrown at a page to verbally paint a scene, spitballing ideas without polishing them first. An art style that isn't so clean, an idea book that doesn't have to be geared towards marketability. Just... LOOSE.

Pic I've been working on for awhile - started as pen on paper, an excuse to do my "one segment a day" so my hand can recover, and play with a dip pen, gold ink, and watercolors. Second is done in Procreate with the new pen and was mostly an excuse to ink and play with texture brushes.

Two sketches in one day? What is this madness?? (The answer is procrastination, probably, but hey, I'm drawing!) Still disliking the end result, but worth doing the studies and practice.

Days 6 & 7 ...how I wish I could just scan these things instead of using my shaky hands and a phone camera. =P Also, I need to start a new art, still in bite sized pieces to appease both my adhd and my hand, for days like 6 which was super small and boring.
