Deeply recommend getting absolutely brainrotted about a pairing/oc/concept that no one else is making food for so you have to cook for yourself. Not only is making what you want to see deeply rewarding, you will improve and it will not even be on purpose it will just be the inevitable byproduct.
Once again I will always recommend getting totally obsessed with something you want to see more of as motivation for getting good at creative stuff.

I blame fanfic for the highly specific crossover ship that I’ve willingly paid money for art comms. And I’ll do it again. Weirdest part is it’s my main introduction to one of the franchises in question.
