Greek-owned tanker Hellas Aphrodite was attacked by pirates firing machine guns and RPGs off the coast of #Somalia. The 24-member crew are safe, the shipping company confirmed. The Malta-flagged vessel, owned by Latsco Marine, reportedly had no armed guards.

Of the 600 #ΕΛΤΑ branches of the state-owned provider of postal services operating across #Greece, 143 have closed within the past 2,5 years. It has been announced that another 204 will be shutting down, reducing the total number of Hellenic Post branches to 253.

#Greece - Six suspects have been identified by the Greek police for the deadly shooting in Vorizia village in #Crete, where a gun battle between 2 feuding families left two people dead.

Two suspects have been arrested, while 4 others are believed to be hiding in the mountains.

WHO: Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed 460 civilians, incl patients, at a hospital in el-Fasher, #Sudan, on Tuesday.

More than 36,000 people have fled el-Fasher, mostly to rural areas around it, since Sunday. An estimated 177,000 civilians remain trapped in the city.

#Cyprus - ‘Missing Persons Day’ is marked on October 29.

By the end of June 2025 the Committee on Missing Persons had exhumed 1,707 individuals and “1,270 sets of remains have been identified and returned to their families”.

A #wildfire that broke out on the Greek island of #Chios on Tuesday is still raging. According to the Fire Service, coastguard boats and private boats have been evacuating people from Limnia and Agia Markella beaches.

Areas northwest have also received evacuation alerts.

Michele Ann Joy Bourda, 59, is still missing as of Tuesday morning. According to the Greek authorities, she was last seen last Friday, August 1st, at the Ofrinio Beach near Kavala, where she had gone for a swim with her husband.

The woman made an appointment for assisted voluntary return to her country (Algeria) through the International Organization for Migration’s program. After abandoning her 3-year-old daughter she told the IOM she had two and not three children.

Greek authorities obtained CCTV footage showing a woman with 3 children buying stuff at a kiosk 21:30 pm on Saturday. One child wearing a hat almost covering its face is seated in a yellow stroller. Hours later the stroller is found abandoned near where the body of the girl was found.
