The extremely, ugly public turn against trans rights, especially among prominent liberals and centrists, doesn't fully make sense until one realizes that it's elites attacking overwhelmingly working class demographics to punish us for our defiance and try to crush any hopes for autonomy.

What are you talking about? The Hubbard/Parsons drama was two decades before the Sea Org treasure hunt, and it was definitely not the same boat

That happened in the late 40s. The sailing to find treasure buried in previous lives was in the mid 60s with the nascent Sea Org

Musk is a parasite on the future; he preys upon the imagination of others, taking any vision of a better world and depreciating it by hawking options on a transparently fake facsimile.
He is capitalism's full-throated assault on the utopian imaginary.

The real tragedy is that, like all great con artists, he ended up believing his own lies, spending his final days disheveled, living in a trailer in hiding from the feds, screaming at his own body thetans

I'll never forget a Sea Org veteran saying "we preferred living in Ron's fantasy to reality". The closest contemporary equivalent is Trump. It is no coincidence that Scientologists are all MAGA

Exactly. People from that class layer are "born to manage", and they get into working-class politics as just another kind of manager, the "cool ones who're on your side". No reason any prole can't run a podcast these days, but the bougie kids know how to schmooze

For my overseas readers not familiar with Murray Ball, he was a left-wing activist and anti-racist, whose _Quentin Hankey: Traitor_ is a biting piece of Cold War satire. Unfortunately, he went kind of Glinner in his later years, except obsessed with bashing *all* women rather than just trans ones

South side of Ivanhoe Road (and presumably the playground at the end) to be annihilated
I approve of the busway but it shits me that low-income housing is going to be paved to prevent the privileged from giving up 2 motorway lanes

It's pretty dumb. But variations on this are the common sense of the whole subcultural Left. "Break from the Dems! Break from the Dems! That is Moses and the prophets!"

Nah. The argument from the "partyist" Left is that Mamdani is "by coraling support for the party, adding a layer of charisma over a bleak graveyard, fortifying a party of repression by redirecting the movement from combat." www.leftvoice.org/why-im-not-v...
Why I’m Not Voting for Zohran… Or Any of Those Others Either - Left Voice
I will not vote for Zohran because the working class and oppressed needs more than a charismatic person that wants to both pressure and relegitimize the Democratic Party. To fight the right and win re...

New Zealand has settled down into a two *bloc* (centre-left, centre-right) system. There is no centre bloc, and elections are probably more about intra-bloc shifts than inter-bloc shifts (though the latter are important).
Point being, FPTP doesn't cause/solve fundamental problems.

FPTP produces stable 2 party government until it suddenly doesn't (Canada 1994 is a recent example). Point is that there are additional factors in the US which reinforce the system

Inevitable in FPTP voting?
Question. How many political parties are there represented at federal level in Canada?
